He normally goes to the bathroom everyday after work and he stays in there for at least an hour pooping. In my opinon he's pooping 5 minutes and watching tv, reading the mail & newspaper the rest of the time. Lately he's been using it more often and he's had a tummy ache twice in the last week. I'm worried about his digestive system. Any advice?

no he wasn't constipated...it was more of an upset stomache ache.. runny...and normally he's regular, once a day..., but lately it's increased...

The tv's in the other room and he just leaves the door open to watch the tv.

You have a TV in your bathroom?! Start by turning your bathroom back into a bathroom. Get rid of the TV and and the newspaper stand. If he has a place he likes to sit in the family room or den, set his newspaper and mail there prior to his getting home from work.
Check his diet and make sure he is getting enough fluids and roughage and remember that it is cold and flu season. I was hit with the stomach flu not to long ago and it kept me in the restroom alot!

have him see a doctor. and i read something somewhere that said sitting on the toilet and straining with no results for more than five minutes actually makes things worse in the long run. something about the strain on your body being in that position? increased the risk of hemorroids, or something, I don't remember, but he needs to get checked out. meanwhile, might try sneaking more fiber into his diet...if all else fails, get that benefiber stuff that is clear and tasteless and mix it in his food, but natural fiber is usually better...usually you will have a bowel movement within an hour of eating an apple...that is even listed in a magazine as a 'beauty' trick for women who are worried about looking bloated in the tummy area when they go out...to eat an apple an hour and a half to two hours before their date. and he needs to be drinking plenty of water...your body doesn't work right if you are dehydrated, and this could be part of the problem, if he is constipated.

Sounds like he needs to get to the doctor & it is hard to get men to the doc!
I would try to get him there & go in with him to see the doc, just so the doc gets the whole story right!

make him go to the doctor it could be diverticulitus and that can lead to a rupture of the intestines or cancer, my grandfather and mother had cancer like that and my husband had his colon rupture at work and it nearly killed him.
