Oh, for most of my life. The boss I have right now is a Greek woman. She's my boss, but I always think of that short, little woman as my big sis. She IS just like having a slightly older sister and has greatly helped me. I have dated several great guys who happened to be white, and we all remain friends to this day. I used to have a white babysitter who treated me like one of her own. White strangers on the street have been great when it came to giving directions, picking up and handing me things I may have dropped, unnoticed, or even giving me a ride somewhere when it was raining, icy or snowing and I was walking to bus stop. (My car had broken down and I had to ride the bus for a week.) Yeah, I don't even buy into the stereotypes anymore...

People are people some are good some are working on it and others have a long way to go. They come in all colors.
Race used to be the first thing I noticed about a person and I could separate experiences. The most profound experience and honor I had was when I was the first to hold our neighbors child. I am Caucasian and they are Creole.

Yes, I am white and my black boyfriend and I have been together for 10 years.

Black people are nothing like the stereotypes I grew up hearing about. I grew up being told that blacks were lazy, stupid and criminals (thanks Dad) but my boyfriend's family is full of well educated, hard working people who have committed less crime than me.

I hate that I believed those lies for so long. I'll never believe a stereotype again.

Of course not. All of the "good instances" you speak of are the result of mixed race. To prove my point, go to ANYWHERE in Africa. The full-blooded natives there will be willing to slice your throat for a nickel.

In High School I dated a gentleman of color for a brief interval - he was sweet but ultimately not my type. It was more the reaction of my friends that he was a "jock" and I was a "square" (bookworm) that made it difficult even more so than color. It was never a mater of color but social standing where I grew up - but hey we were just a bunch of cowboys - and any working man was just a man.

Do you live in the south? Your question makes it seem like you live somewhere with a lot of racial tension

well all races are alike as well as different its kinda like trying to compare different people even of the same race...you take two people raised in different places but both white they will be similar and also different..get it? you take two black folk raised in different areas and the same occurs they will have similarities and differences..this goes for black, white, mexican, ect. the thing we all have in common is we are all human no one person is just like another regardless of race please understand that!
