WOW- I love the old Victor vinyls. And for the record, I use to be an online dj, so i do respect what it is you're saying. Age should have no bearing on music however as a critic and passionate music lover, there will always be debate as to who knows what and what they consider music. Personally, I find it therapy. I am 35 and grew up with it all over; my father played trumpet in dixieland bands, I have 4 older brothers- one plays guitar and the other played drums- in two bands, my cousin was a singer and dancer and won Miss Wisconsin back in the early 70's and I can sing but mostly dance- don't want you to think I am being selfish or taking a holier than tho attitude either- I am extremely passionate about music. If you think I'm kiddin, check my 360- I just wrote a tribute with some youtube videos- you're under no obligation to do so... just a friendly shout out. Thanks for reading my very long winded response. *phew*

You shouldn't jump on everyone for one persons answer. Yes you look like you know your thing, thumbs up to you and for believing in yourself. People shouldn't stereotype teens...but when you look at it, people OVER 30 have been around longer and MOST TIMES have a broader perspective on certain subjects. Whether it be music or whatever. I think that's where the stereotype stems from. I'm 47, and believe me this is meant as advice not a rip on you when I say, if you didn't have little rants like you did when you got pissed over ONE persons comments, then people would see that the stereotype doesn't fit you! But kudos to you, keep at it, you are an inspiration to those of us OLD people that youth may NOT be wasted on the young!

(I hope you did NOT take offense to any of this, because none was intended)

I think that it is not about the age. It is how long have you been playing music. You may be young, but if you have started studying music seriously since you were 7, you will definitely be good. And I think it is the amount of time you spend studying and practicing, the degree of your commitment, and how passionate are you to music makes a mature musician.

It is not about the theories, it is about how you will use them.

You can study music late, but if you will devote 8 hours everyday for practice and studying, I bet that you will be good after one year.

p.s. I know a lot of people who started playing young, and they turned out and became more mature when they were already 30+.

Im sick of this age discrimination and literal bull shi*! All that I can tell you is to do something about it. People are always under estimating the power that young people have, but I will tell you what, we have the power to do what ever we dam* well want, as long as you want it really bad, and you got people behind you. I never understand any of this "Age" shi*. Like suddenly when you are 18 years old, you are allowed to die for your country, (USA), when, in that same country you are not allowed to go down the street to a bar to drink a beer! I don't know there is so much dumb bull shi* things out there that adolescents are discriminated against, and will be continued to be discriminated against. It is up to US to change things, by the way, we are the future. Best of luck to you. My apologies for all the rambling on.. lol

Many young people do not have the life experience to have been exposed to many different types of music, and don't the maturity to appreciate music that is not popular or anti-social in nature. Congratulations for being more mature that most people your age.

I dont think anyone is being prejudiced to teens at all.... the question was essentially do you listen to what you used to listen to back in the day.

If anything, you're the one judging.
Oh, and by the way sweetie, 30 isnt 'old'...

i believe she was just looking for people on the same age bracket cause her next q was about old school music.

she did say "you have to be at least 30 OR know a little..."
she didn't really say you have to be over 30 to know.

deep breaths everyone. smile!
