Hey guys. I am a huge Yankees fan but I am a little unsure of what's gonna happen with the Yankees starting rotation. Now that Randy Johnson has left for Arizona, I think Roger Clemens will be coming over from Houston, but am I wrong about this? I think the Rocket will return to the the Bronx because of Andy Pettite's return, but I could be wrong. Will Ching Ming Wang be the ace of the Yankees staff this year? He won 19 games this last year, but he doesn't have the popularity of Pettite or the Moose. Finally, if the Yanks don't land the Rocket, can their pitching be good enough to win them the World Seires? I believe they can, but say what you want to say.

Mussina should start opening day, simply because he has been the Yanks workhorse for the last several years and he has become a fixture on the Yankees. Wang however should put up the better numbers. Roger Clemens has not yet really expressed what he wants to do next season, and it is really up to him. If he wants to pitch for the Yankees and unite again with his buddy Pettite. Joe Torre is smart and I believe that he can work with the above rotation to get them into the playoffs and anything can happen there. Good luck to your Yankees.

I think popularity will have a bit to do with it. Wang was obviously the best pitcher for the Yankees in 2006 and still isnt considered the ace of the team, and there is also much doubt that he'll pitch on opening day. However i think it should be:

Wang
Mussina
Pettitte
Pavano (if healthy)
Igawa

How good do those first 3 names look up there. I think they can take out the World Series on '07. If Clemens comes back, i think there chances will increase HEAPS unless for some reason he loses his dominance this off-season somehow.

Wang, in my mind, is the ace of this team and might just start there. It depends on how Joe Torre wants to mix up his right and left handed pitchers. Because of this, Wang will probably pitch 3rd in the rotation. Moose will most likely get the start out of repect to the seniority that he has on the pitching staff and Moose has all the right stuff to be the "Ace" starter. Andy, because he's a lefty will be moved into the second spot in the rotation. The 4th and 5th spot look for Igawa and ??????? Pavano ??????? ( the biggest ? mark of them all)

However... look for some other great possibilities..Philip Hughes comes to mind. (Keep in mind that 2 years ago Wang was virtually UNKNOWN to the baseball world and look how quickly he proved himself, he's got great stuff) Another possibility, Scott Proctor.

Joe Torre and staff should be excited... they have alot to work with, more then they have had in the past 6 years!

What does "popularity" have to do with it? This is baseball -- not American Idol.

Wang, Mussina, Pettitte, Igawa (guy they just got from Japan), Pavano if he's healthy, ...

Pavano finally gets to earn a portion of his bloated salary.

Clemens stays in Houston. Roger is no fool , he knows at his age the hitters in the vastly superior AL East will hammer him. He stays in the AAA level NL.

So its:

Moose
Wang
Pettite
Pavano
Igawa

Your rotation looks to be a little short on the back-end and a little old on the front end.

Anyway, may the best team with over a 150 million dollar payroll win ;-)

i think it is going to look as though this: a million. CC Sabathia 2. AJ Burnett 3. Phil Hughes 4. Ivan Nova 5. Bartolo Colon I say Colon because of the fact, nicely, they signed him with an invitation to Spring guidance and Mitre is a reliever case and factor. BQ1: in the event that they have been commerce for a tumbler, i might desire to work out Edwin Jackson, his contract is up on the tip of the season and he has had fulfillment interior the AL East. BQ2: i don't see Pettitte returning, and if he does it heavily isn't until June or July.

Clemens will/ should take over for Pavano (injury) or Igawa (bullpen) at some point. I hear rumors that they still may try to add someone by spring training too.
