There is a part in Zen and the art of Motorcycle maintenance where the lead character looks at how to paint a perfect picture he says First make yourself perfect and then paint he picture.

Politicians are normal people subject to the same limitations as all of us , Even if we had a perfect system of politics the weakest link would be ourselves - the state of humanity. We are responsible for not being ideal citizens. I am not beating us up just think its neutral fact. Think! why do we need prisons and police and army asbo's etc?

When society finally becomes civilised maybe we can support the ideal system.

My God! All you do is ask a simple hypathetical question and people bash you like all you do is sit around and dream about "utopia" as one called it. Its is becasue of people like you, who actually question your government and leader, that get things accomplished. Could you imagine a world where no one was involved or wanted it to be better? People must realize that in order for change to happen, you must not sit by and let things happen, but question it, be a part of it and play a part in the govermnet...after all IT IS supposed to be ruled by the people for the people right?

And now to your question: An ideal society would be one, of course, of peace, fairness, the right to choose and do what you want. Of course, there would be law inforcement...just less strict laws on telling you what you can and cannot do (morally speaking). I think that democracy should be spread throughout the world, but I also think that democracy could take some pointers from communism (ie..fairness, equality) and combine the two to form a good, solid gov. We also need leaders that actually care about the voters and do what they say they will in a fair, non-corrupt way. Poverty would be non-existant because its ideal to not have it (lol) etc. This could be achieved, with the help of people who have the cahones to stand up for something and question the wrong. Unfortunately, there arent many people like that around, you know?

What is ideal for some, will not be ideal for others. Life is not fair, just look at Tsunami and hurricane victims, was that fair. Someone will always be jealous and envious of someone else, there is no ideal world.

The ultimate political idealism would be to actually elect a leader who is looking after the voters' best interests. That's an oxymoron because in order to obtain sufficient notoriety to be up for election you have to stab so many people in the back that you become, by default, self-serving.

In an ideal world, democracies would be the only type of government to be found.

"There are those, I know, who will say that the liberation of humanity, the freedom of man and mind, is nothing but a dream. They are right. It is the American dream."
-Archibald MacLeish

And may that dream come true!!!!!

God Bless America!

both are dreams, but will never happen. politics is the means for people to get along, regardless of their differences. an ideal world can never be because this world is always changing.

equality above all. ALL. branching out comes economy- you cant feed an equal world without money. also branching out is military- there will be those willing to crash the ideal world. if you want peace, prepare to go to war. branching out of military is land sea and air forces. branching out of economy are the politics- the people, the leaders, the judges. the background of this concept is the Japanese ethics of hard working.

What is mine is mine and what is yours is yours, but If you want we could trade and share fairly. I wont hit you, stomp all over you, trick you, or pay others to do my dirty job for me to take whats yours, just because I can, and I have better toys.
Watch the kids in playground. Those little guys got the concept right.
If only our politicians could learn from the kids this would have been an ideal world.

First, I would like to say I am a Republican who is totally disgusted with the vast majority of users on this forum who call themselves Republicans.
Here are my observations and opinions about them;
1: They would rather put their own self interests in this president, ahead of the interests of this Nation.
2: They would rather clone, redicule, and demean those who would try to bring serious discussion to this forum, than debate them on their own merits.
3: They also seek to report in an attempt to undermine those stated in #2 in an effort to have those facts removed.
4: and final, history will remeber those who stood by while this Nation was robbed, lied to, and stolen from and those that defended those very practices.
