I've tried splicing the wires back together still doesnt work.

There are two braided wires that connect your mic. Many times one wire will run down the middle of the other. Look very closely and carefully separate the wires and then solder the corresponding wires together. These reinforced braided wires can be tricky to solder. If any part of the wires touch the other it won't work. Use a little hot glue to keep them separate if you get the mic to work.

Fix it by reconnecting the wires together. wrap electrical tape around the reconnected wires.
First chance you get, phone around and ask your friends if they have a spare one. Computer headsets are in some of the computer paraphernalia garbage bins that everybody has I must have at least 4 of them , some from over 10 years ago. Im a pack rat. Dont buy it. Someone will be happy to offload theirs to you.

Either splice it, or buy a new one, they're cheap!
