How does one erase everything and I mean everything including the stuff that others have downloaded onto my computer. I want to entirely erase everything so that if someone were to come by they could never see what has been downloaded. How can I do it?

Easiest method for you would be to download this free & easy to use utility :

http://dban.sourceforge.net/

DBAN is a means of ensuring due diligence in computer recycling, a way of preventing identity theft if you want to sell a computer, and a good way to totally clean a Microsoft Windows installation of viruses and spyware.

DBAN prevents or thoroughly hinders all known techniques of hard disk forensic analysis.

Offers bootable floppy or CD versions.

Youll have to reformat your hard drive. This means that EVERYTHING will be erased. However, if you do not have a disk to reinstall your operating system then you cannot reformat your hard drive. If you do, you will have a worthless computer, because you need an OS in order to use it. Also try not downloading things that you wouldnt want to show to others.

If you have the Win XP install disk, insert it in the drive and boot up from the CD. When the menu comes up, read the instructions very carefully and completely reformat the drive and reinstall the operating system. Then you will have to install the device drivers for every device, get online and update Windows.

If all else fails - reformat your hard drive, and re-install your operating system. It's a pain in the tuchas, but it works. Good luck.

It is easy, actually. All you have to do is contact your local police department and ask for their "Kiddie Porn Eraser Diskette". They will give you a copy for free, and even show you how to use it if you ask.
