I forgot to put in my opinion. The scariest movie I've ever seen, and it still scares my sh!tless, is ALIEN.

im sorry but all the movies mentioned are crap
the only movie that actually scared me was poltergiest 1
im meen who could forget the guy biting into the maggot filled chicken leg the tree that ate the kid and a bunch other stuff

Tie between The Exorcist, The Omen, the original Amityville Horror 2, and Nightmare on Elm Street 1.
I was addicted however to Nightmare on Elm Street 1 when I was 5 when it came out. Scared the be-jesus out of me, but strangely alluring. Must be that textured skin mmmmmmm...

Unfortunately the one that kept me up all night was the Ring, but scariest is the Exorcist. The thing about demonic little girls in white dresses has always bothered me.

The Ring scared the crap out of me the first time I saw it, and so did the Exorsisim of Emily Rose. But then, I don't really watch scary movies. They scare me. :-P

Saw 3 made me cringe so much, I nearly puked! But yeah, most of the Saw movies, that Jackal dude is so scary. As for the most disturbing movie....I would have to say American History X
