we are not defeated at all.. we are winning

The role of the US military in Iraq quickly became that of cops in a really, really, really bad neighborhood. The problem is that there is no clear-cut, achievable goal. The troops go on patrol, get shot at, shoot back, then return to base. Meanwhile, convoys get blown up at random, and the Iraqis slaughter each other in round after endless round of sectarian violence. Obviously President Bush, who weaseled his way out of serving in Vietnam, did not learn the most important lesson from that conflict: DON'T GET GROUND TROOPS INVOLVED IN A CIVIL WAR. Not only are US ground troops stuck in a civil war, it is a civil war of Bush's own making. Can Bush get any stupider?

P.S. There were 402 murders in LA in 2006.

No we are not defeated. We are winning. Troops have died, yes, as they do in a war, but nothing close, as liberals want you to think. Their aim being to destroy president Bush's reputation, for their security in the government. There are less troops who have died in the war in Iraq, then American's who died through terrorism, since Clinton was in office, to 9/11. The USS Cole in Yemen, our embassy in Africa, our soldiers in Somalia, and then 9/11, all due to Clinton and his incapablity to run a country, and protect it. Did I miss anymore of his misdeeds? (slightly over 3000 American soldiers died for your freedom, and against terrorism in Iraq).
Notice please, that there have been no terrorist attacks on American soil, since George Bush took action since 9/11? Hmmm, that is something to think about, isn't it?

We took out the Hussein regime

Our failure was not leaving him in power or removing a bad guy...the failure was to build a replacement authority

we were never going to make it the 51st state.....

You never go to war against a country.....you always have to deal with the neighboring countries......if they do not want a democracy or western style government they world against you...

If China invaded Canada...would we support a communist government next door......no

We might go to war or support people of the old regime to make it difficult for China to control it....insurgents they call them today

When we broke with Britain....France gave America military assistance.....after the war...France protected out shipping lanes and ports....

So let me ask you did Bush do what he said and take out the old regime.....did he promise to build a new Iraq nation.......his mistake was not to get the neighbors on board.....and smack them when they sent help to the insurgents.....it is why we have the debate of enough troops to do the job....to win yes...to reset the direction of a country with new style of government no........................

I don't really think we're defeated per say, so much as, how (and when) do we get out? And I know it's over 3000 troops that we've lost.

3006 American troops have died. I wouldn't say that we're defeated, although that's what the libs would want us to think. No, over 100000 American troops died in WWI and WWII, and we won both of those wars.

There have been over 3000 U.S. deaths in Iraq... A small amount compared to the losses suffered in WWI and WWII.

We are not winning, nor are we losing. The adminstration just does not know how to deal with a Civil War which broke out just after the invasion.

The US invaded Iraq without honour or legitimacy, and will be forced to leave without honour, bruised and beaten. The lessons of Vietnam have not been learnt.
