My husband left me and our son about a year and a half ago...now he wants to force me to sell our home and subject us to a much lower standard of living...He is in the midst of a law suit for an accident he was in involving my car. He has stated that the monies he recieves from that will be his. I need a man eater for an attorney...please if you know of any let me know...fyi: I apologize if this offends any yahoo members, it is not my intention to take what I dont feel is mine...I already replaced my car so I could care less about the law suit...I just want to keep our home....besides how much does a man who abandons his family for a greener pasture deserve?

Remember that anger clouds good judgement.

You'll come out best if you act on fact and ability instead of anger and resentment (although I totally understand your feelings - in a slightly different way).

BE careful looking for a lawyer with a hard on for getting back at men. Personally, I would find a lawyer, male or female, who has a great track record winning cases just like yours, not eating men for breakfast ;-)

The L.A. County Bar Association has a lawyer referral program that can give you the names of at least 3 attorneys who can help in a family law situation. Attorneys cost money...to both sides. If you and your ex are feeling emotions toward each other, that spells expensive law business. Consider mediation. But you'll need an attorney. Th local bar associations also have referral services, such as Beverly Hills Bar Assoc, Wilshire Bar Assoc, Santa Monica Bar Assoc, San Fernando Bar Assoc. Good luck.

My grandmother was from LA. I only met her once on a visit there when I was 2. All I remember is playing in the sand by the ocean. Pleasant memory. However, I hope I NEVER have to return to California! The mudslides; the sinkholes; the wildfires; the falling rocks; the earthquakes; the crazies (Charles Manson): it seems instead of locking up their criminally psychotics, they let them run loose on the streets of the cities. That's the impression of California I've gotten all my life from the news. I'll stay on the east coast where there are fewer natural disasters and safer in general. Sorry, it has nothing to do with Christianity at all.

First of all, You are simply going to have to suck up and deal with a lower standard of living...that's the breaks sweets even in California. If you're not working now I suggest you find something at least part time because spousal support isn't a given. You might get it for 6 months but you will be expected to be looking for gainful employment, if you don't get employment You CAN try welfare but again you will be expected to look for work. Your child is entitled to child support but that is for your SON and not you, it is for half of his living expenses (yes you are expected to supply half of his expenses as well since you're his mother). As far as the lawsuit...was the car in YOUR name? If it was then YOU are liable for ny damage made by YOUR car, if it is in HIS name consider yourself lucky that no one is coming after YOU, including the insurance company. In California you are entitled to half of the marital assets and that's it. If you want to keep your home it may be required that you buy out your husband's half of the home.
