A block is schedule is designed so that your schedule is divided into two separate days. The first day you will have four of your classes (about 90 minutes long) and lunch... the second day will be your next 4 classes (again 90 minutes long)
The high school in the system that I work for has black and gold days. They give you a calendar at the beginning of the semester with dates and days labeled, so you know what day it is after a vacation and you don't get confused.
The purpose was to allow students 90 minutes a period so that they can finish those longer "labs" during class time or get instruction and guided instruction so that student have a chance to make mistakes and learn from them, before taking home homework.

My school has block scheduling and I think it reduces some of my stress from school. With block I don't have to stress out over completing and turning in assignments the very next day..I have time to think and just relax. It also gives your mind a break because you don't have to go to the same classes everyday. I wouldn't know what I would do without block schedule!

My children attended a school that had a block schedule, they loved it.

My kids school would use a flag out side to signify what block day it was and what schedule to use for that day.

Block days are classes every other day verses every day. The exception is the classes are longer on the days you do meet, double time and with a day between. Block schedules gives the student a day between classes. All classes are not held daily

For instances your school colors are blue and white. the first day of school is Monday, therefore the block color that day is white. You would refer to your schedule for what class you must attend for a white flag day. You now the next day is blue and therefore you need to attend classes for the blue block schedule.

you'll get it when you go.

You take less classes (4 per day instead of 6 or 7) and they last for 1.5 hours instead of 45 minutes. You actually can earn more credits throughout the course of your time by using that type of schedule. I enjoyed block scheduling.

Block scheduling has four classes a day, each being about 90 minutes long.

One type has the same four classes every day, and you complete an entire year's course in one semester, only taking four classes at a time.

Another type has classes meeting on alternate days: four classes one day, and the other four classes the next, and so on. You take eight classes, but you only have each class every other day.
