My g/f is 13 weeks pregnant and we had the biggest fight of our relationship ever last night. She has not bled through out the whole pregnancy so far. She has had all the normal symptoms and we have taken extra care to diet right and sleep right, EVERYTHING. THe fight we had last night is something I wish I could forget, it was that bad. May that have cause her to miscarry the child. This morning she had slight bleeding and stomach pains.

Was it a physical fight? It usually takes quite a bit of stress and over a period of time to cause a miscarriage. I would say if she did miscarry, it probably wasn't just because of the argument, there was probably an underlying problem.

Can Arguing Cause A Miscarriage

How Stress Causes Miscarriage
Stress has long been suspected as a possible cause of miscarriage, with several studies indicating an increased risk among women reporting high levels of emotional or physical turmoil in their early months of pregnancy or just before conception. But while a relationship has been noted, researchers didn't know exactly how a woman's stress could cause miscarriage.

In what may prove to be a breakthrough finding, a team of scientists from Tufts University and Greece have identified a suspected chain reaction detailing exactly how stress hormones and other chemicals wreak havoc on the uterus and fetus. Their report, in the June issue of Endocrinology, may help explain why women miscarry for no obvious medical reasons and why some women have repeated miscarriages. And it could lead to measures to prevent miscarriage -- medically known as "spontaneous abortion."

Researchers have long known that during times of stress, the brain releases several hormones -- including one called corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH). In past research, women who deliver prematurely or have low-birth-weight babies were often found to have high levels of CRH in their bloodstream, and other studies show a greater risk of miscarriage in women reporting stress. CRH is a hormone the brain secretes in reaction to physical or emotional stress, and it is also produced in the placenta and the uterus of a pregnant woman to trigger uterine contractions during delivery.

But this new research suggests that CRH and other stress hormones may also be released elsewhere in the body, where it specifically targets localized mast cells -- those best known for causing allergic reactions. Mast cells are abundant in the uterus. During stress, the local release of CRH causes these mast cells to secrete substances that can cause miscarriages.

despite what everyone thinks--having a fight or stress does NOT cause a pregnant girl to miscarry.
a miscarriage occurs when (something inside) the body is unable to carry a baby to term-it is a natural and spontaneous thing.

she is at the very beginning of her 2nd trimester where miscarriage risk decreases.

& unless you are in the delivery room- any bleeding in pregnancy is NOT normal!
she needs to get to the doctor to get that checked out.

--stomach pains now are normal as baby is growing inside, all the muscles stretch to accomodate baby. she will probably notice stomach and lower back pains a lot more in the weeks to come.

please get her to her doctor asap.
she probably isnt miscarrying--but there could be something else wrong if she has slight bleeding.

no not unless it was physical. a lot of times the body will miscarry do to the fetus having some sort of genetic defect. tell her to see her doctor to find out what is going on. if fighting and stress causes miscarriage i wouldn't be days away from my due date

Large amounts of stress can cause bleeding and cramping, she needs to go to the hospital IMMEDIATELY! God forbid, you two didn't exchange blows did you? Take your girl to a doctor NOW OK?? BTW you can do everything right and have 0 stress, and still have a miscarriage.

Yes it can cause a miscarriage. Have her stay in bed and if the pains or bleeding get really bad, call her doctor.

You would be amazed at what stress does to your body. Was any of the fighting physical? If not, what I remember from mine, I spotted just for awhile, I went right in to my doctor. Everything was fine. I wouldn't wait too long before going in to talk to the doctor. And be sure to be honest with your doctor. I'm sure she is freaking out right now, so she needs you to be the strong one. Make an appointment to get her in. This will help take those "what if" questions off your mind. Good luck, please seek your physician as soon as possible.

no no no, absolutely not. the vast majority of miscarraiges are beyond anyone's control. most of them are caused by chromosomal problems (like down's syndrome) or the baby not developing properly (heart defects etc). Nothing can be done to "save" a baby that she is miscarrying either.. a lot of women do bleed in early pregnancy and don't miscarry.. she really needs to have an u/s and pelvic exam to see whats going on.

why are you fighting with a pregnant woman, its like fighting with a robot, you will always be wrong and the more stressed out she gets is WAY to much for her to deal with right now, especially since her body is working so hard to create and nurture your child together, if your fighting just do what my husband does and turn the volume up on the TV or radio and give her time to cool off and eventually she will forget and think it was dumb to fight, women are very emotional and if you provoked the fight bad on you
