ipods....no.....any speaker put up to or in the ear and is used at a high volume for lengths of time....yes.

cannot say just ipods.....any loud music or sounds will cause hearing issues or deafness.

1/2 of my hearing in my left ear is gone since childhood cause dad use to take me to the drag strip to watch the race cars. well my left ear faced the track, in turning making a child 1/2 deaf at the time.

Yes, long term use of anything above a certain noise level will cause hearing damage and possible deafness.

Think of the hearing damage being done by boom box cars, not only to the drivers but to the public, as well as loud exhaust pipes for cars, trucks and motorcycles.

It is one thing to just injure yourself, but a greater moral issue to injure or annoy others.

If the sound reaches 115 decibels, then yes. Not only iPods. Anything that creates more than that can leave you deaf if you listen to it for hours. iPods maye reach more than that depending on your headphones but if you don't listen to your iPod at its highest volume then I guess you're okay.

Only if you have the volume above 60% a lot. Which is kinda loud. So if you have common sense and keep the volume at a normal level you'll be fine =)

I've had a portable music player since the 1st Walkman in the early 80's and have been using them since. As long as you don't crank them to it's max you'll be fine.

If you want to hear music cranked opt for a player with speakers.

Depends on how loud you play it.

if you listen at a relitivly low volume, something comfortable. a little below your loudest comfortable level, then itl be fine.

its people that make it so loud that you caint even hear people talk around you that caint hear when they turn 30
