I've been told that eternity is the amount of time it takes a bird to fly all the sand form the Atlantic seaboard to the Pacific seaboard, on grain at a time. And that's just the beginning. Does that sound about right?
Could make hell a prety rough gig.

The bird will die after a few years, and thus never finish the task. That's a pretty good description of eternity.

eternity is actually not a measure of time.
it is beyond the mind
"before Abraham was I am"
is an example juxtaposing the past tense with the present tense confuses the mind like a Buddhist koan this saying of Jesus represents eternity in poetic form
the mind cannot explain eternity because we can only think of one thing in relation to another.
there can't be sound without silence
there is nothing that relates to the concept of eternity
the closest you can come is it is such a long time that it has no beginning and no end and i can't really comprehend it .

an example is do you really understand how much a trillion dollars is?

I like to visualize an outline of myself.
a shell.
Then I picture the universe inside and the universe outside.
then I travel inward and outward like I am warp speed ahead.
Then I let that day dream keep on going and come back to my reality of self.

I trust the thought will go on forever.

I jump off the train cause I don't have to think it trough to an end.

It's breath taking.

Eternity is forever. I hope life is eternal. If it is I will meet my mother for the first time since I was eight years old. My younger brothers don't know of their mom and they will meet her for the first time. It will be a joyous reunion.

I have hope and faith. If I'm wrong I won't know it and I will have lost nothing.

Our minds can't wrap themselves around the concept of eternity. Eternity is such an abstract concept that to try to use earthly analogies to explain it is an exercise in futility.

Just for reference.
God has no need of time.........
It stands perfectly still-------------so your bird is always suspended
in flight............that first grain of sand--never moves.......
Eternal life is a long time indeed...Heaven or Hell.
