no, i have worked with a lot of handicapped people over the years, and they don't feel sorry for themselves, and don't want others to feel sorry for them either. They want to be seen, and treated, as everyone else, human beings that love, hate , and have feelings.

Yes, they may be too ignorant or naive or hv an issue with low self esteem to realize they r in a bad situation.

Most people who have a crappy situation are just trying to deal with it, but for others to have sympathy is natural.

in certain cases. there are people suffering right now from AIDS and genocide in africa and all they have left is their pride. i would not deny them their pride and not feel sorry for their situation.
