I went to the lab for the urine test on Thursday, but they said the Dr.won't get the results until Monday. I am just over 8 months pregnant. Can this hurt the baby?

No, it really shouldn't hurt the baby. If it goes on for too long it could move up your urinary tract and go to your kidneys-- but I'm sure it'd take a few months of ignoring it. (you'd know that'd happend if you're having pain in your kidneys...aka, your back.)

Don't worry about it--your DRs will treat it and your baby will be fine.

I have had two bladder infections thus far during this pregnancy. Only if the infection is left untreated can it cause harm. Your doctor will just put you on an antibiotic for 5 to 7 days. Make sure to take it exactly as directed to ensure that the infection is treated properly and you do not have to take meds again. Your doctor is almost the next thing to cruel for making you wait with a bladder infection at 8 months pregnant. Being pregnant is uncomfortable in itself let alone with a painful BI. Each time I have had a BI, the doc knew within the time of my visit that was what was going on.

Well for one thing go to a doctor that uses the urine dip sticks to check for infection right in the office. The sample will still need to go to the lab to make sure it isn't antibiotic resistant but better to start antibiotics sooner rather than later.

The primary concern with UTIs during pregnancy is that the bacteria will travel to your kidneys as the valves are relaxed like everything else in your body from the hormones.

Secondly infections can cause preterm labour.

I would call your doctor and tell him you are having serious concerns about how he/she is handling your care.

At 8 months pregnant, most definitely it can hurt your baby. The doctor should have the test results immediately in their office. Don't wait that many days. Call you OB.

i had lots of bladder infections while being pregnant and didn't get treatment right away do to being on bed rest, but if left untreated ,depending on how bad the infection is, it could stimulate contractions, so definitely call to get results, and if it get too uncomfortable just go to the ER, especially if contractions develop, drink lots of water.Or have your md paged if too unbearable, lots of times it feels like infection due to the pressure on your bladder, but isn't. My babies turned out fine. Good luck.

I went through this too. It won't direclty hurt the baby, but it could cause premature labour. So if you do have an infection, take the antibiotics that are prescribed by your doctor. It really will not hurt your baby.

Don't worry, you will be fine! And your baby will be fine too!

Some infections can reach the baby but most have to be prolonged. If you took action as soon as you noticed the symptoms everything should be fine. I really don't think that you have anything to worry about

You'll be fine waiting for the results over the weekend. I had to wait for my urinalysis results, too. It made me nutty, so please don't do that to yourself. If the test is positive they'll call in antibiotics for you . Your baby is not in harms way while you wait a few days - it's okay. Relax. Drink lots of water and try to make yourself comfortable any way you can.

Take care.

I would be yelling mad at the doctor if I were you. I don't think its harmful to the baby but its soooo uncomfortable to wait for several days with a bladder infection. I've had those a bunch of times and they hurt to a distraction!!!!

Well drink lots of water to flush out the infection throughout the day. If I were you, I would keep drinking water until I can't take it anymore, so that it forces me to pee alot.
Cranberry juice can also help. But drink more water than cranberry juice though.
