I remember as a kid I used to play this really cool game on Sega Genesis. I don't remember the name, but it went something like this:

It took place in space and the player has to build spaceships based on limited resources, and in any given turn he can move each ship a certain distance, and then if an enemy ship was at the same location the game would go to a tactical scene where you actually had to gun him down.

It was a pretty cool game. I know I wasn't too clear on the details, because that's all I remember, but if anyone knows the name I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Herzog Zwei maybe? That was one of the best space, strategy games ever released on that system!

Only other one I can think of was maybe Star Control
