I think doing it while you have your period is best, because it helps with cramps and relaxes your muscles. I would suggest using a vibrator so that your hands don't have to touch it (unless of course you are doing it in the shower and then you can just wash them when you are done) and you can simply wash off the vibrator when you are done. Also, it helps cleanse the area.. hmm, I won't go too much into detail.. it could get a little graphic for some people.

It does not matter when you do it but since you like the shower so it's actually alright even if you have your period. Because it's a bit messy and so that makes it easier to wash off the remains. Think most ladies use their fingers or fruits. Tools will be too hard and plastice but some do like it. So guess that's a preference.

You can and you may even want to more at that time of the month, but it will probably be messy, doing it in the shower is a good idea. Use hand rails or sit down though so you don't fall or something

in the shower is great especially if you have a removeable shower head. If not use the bathtub spout and let the water flow right on your clit.

Sometimes in the shower or in bed ( with a towel handy) but my girlfriend prefers that I let her take care of me so, I don't do it too often.
