I think they are discriminated against. That's a tough call about paying for 2 seats, it seems like maybe the airlines or trains could have special accommodations for larger people just as they make accommodations for handicapped.

Are obese people discriminated against? Yes. Should they have to pay for 2 seats on a plane/train. Well, unfortunately yes. It's only fair to those people that take up only one seat. If someone takes up two seats then the airline/train company is out of money if they only pay for one ticket. Is it a nice thing to have to tell someone that they are so obese that they have to buy two tickets? No, but unfortunately it's necessary.

I really think they are discrimitated against. It is unfair that now days just because of their weight, they are treated like less of a person because of it. I have seen it personally because I was obese at one time in my life. I was treated like dirt, made fun of, had people act like I was the plague, called every "fat" name you can think of, and all of it was from people who didn't care about my feelings.

I really think people now days, not all but some, think just because a person is obese, they have no feelings and can't hear what they are saying about them or the looks that they give.

I don't think they should have to pay for 2 seats on a plane or train just because they take up extra space unless they specifically ask for it and are willing to pay the extra money.

Lol, of course they are discriminated against and they shouldn't have to pay for 2 seats, seats should be built a little wider to accommodate everyone or ad least have a few seats that are especially made for much larger people.

Obese, blind, deaf, mentally challenged. All are treated bad by society. No they should not have to buy two seats. That is one body. My grandmother was very large. But it was because she had crippling arthritis and could not exercise. When she got on a plane she was treated rude. Not everyone is large for lake of exercise and eating too much. Some have diseases, Some tumors. People look at large people as if they have the plague. Face it Large people are people with feelings. And it is one person so One seat.

Obviously, if you're taking up two seats you would have to pay double. If they didn't then 'skinny' people would be discriminated against, because they wouldn't get two seats for one. It makes more sense to charge them twice, or less, but definetely more, than to deny two seats to the 'average' passenger. Obese people have a problem, and they should acknowledge that, and start looking for a way to fix that problem and not try to live with it.

I don't think that's discrimination, if someone takes up the space of what would normally be two fares, then it's reasonable to me that the airline would charge two fares.

But yes, obese people are discriminated against all the time in a broad range of ways.

Ohhhhhhhhh, i havn't had any personal experiences but i have seen alot of people out in publice on trains buses etc be discriminated against. Which i think isn't fair. thats just as bad as being racist in my opinion. No one should have to pay extra just because of their size, thats like saying someone should pay extra for being ugly. The worls should just expect each other for who we are and not what we look like, then the world would be a lot happier and peaceful : )
