The only people who have agents in different states are working actors who can fly back and forth. Your agent needs to be local to where you live - without question. Agents in LA submit their talent for auditions in the LA area as their clients are LA based. They won't take a chance on someone not in the area - let alone the state who, chances are, won't be able to make the audition. You see, most auditions are the next day. The breakdown goes out in the morning, and then by the afternoon, the casting director has the pictures they need and are calling the agents and managers of the talent to come in the next day. I've even had auditions with only a couple hours notice. If you are out of state, then there is no way you can make it.

Additionally, no agents are going to even consider you (unless of course you are incredibly beautiful) unless you have a great headshot, good credits on your resume, and some solid training under your belt. You are at a disadvantage in terms of the entertainment industry by being in NC. However, I am sure there are locally produced commercials, student films, and community theatre where you can get great experience. Then once you have this experience, then, when you are ready (both mentally and financially) you move to either LA or New York as that is where you really need to be if acting is what you HAVE to do. I say HAVE because although it can be tons of fun, acting is still WORK, and it can be very hard at times with 14+ hour days with lots of waiting around, tough auditions where is can seem like nobody wants to hire you regardless of how much you nailed the audition. You need very tough skin. That's is why I say you need to be mentally ready.

North Carolina is a "Right to Work State." You can call any SAG Talent Agent and request an appointment for an interview/audition.

Unfortunately, there are no SAG franchised Talent Agents in North Carolina/South Carolina.

Can you fly from North Carolina to Los Angeles each time you have an audition in Los Angeles or New York?

not really. it doesn't really matter WHERE you get your agent from. and, there's always the OTHER way of getting attention, which is Youtube and Myspace

good luck with your career!
