Doctors do NOT tell you the truth about the dangers of the vaccines. Most children have them because they are required to get into school. I am not 100% sold on their safety. For one thing, I read that Autism could be caused by them.
You have to judge for yourself. Those are great websites.

It's amazing how people always assume the worst motivations of others, and claim that they are only motivated by "good"

The flu vaccine is an "inactivated" vaccine. That means that they take a live flu strain and kill it with either heat or chemicals. The body reacts to these dead virii the same way they react to a live one. By building up an immunity to them. Only now the virus is dead so it won't being infecting any cells or dividing.
Once it has been flushed from your system, you are left with defenses that are "ready" for anyone you come into contact with who has the live version.
Think of it like calling out the police BEFORE a terrorist attack.

Back in the late 90's. Dr. Andrew Wakefield published an article in the UK's medical journal "Lancet" about a link between the MMR vaccine, bowel disorders and autism.
His study was dismissed by the medical community because he used a small sample size and didn't use any healthy controlls, so his study didn't meet accepted standards for medical studies. In 2004, 10 of the 13 authors of the Wakefield study retracted the paper's interpretations of the results. Wakefield was also found to have received a conciderable sum of money from trial lawyers who wanted to use the study to launch lawsuits against pharmasutical companies.

In addition, in 2004-2005, the UK reported a sharp rise in the reported cases of mumps infections in young adults. Further investigation showed that a large percentage of these were not given their MMR vaccination because parents read the Wakefield report.

While the wholesale banning of vaccination would have serious health effects. It's accepted that individuals who refuse vaccines don't face any dramatic increase in infection rates because of the "herd immunity" effect. (Basically, if everyone around you is vaccinated, chances are you will never come into contact with the disease) But unvaccinated people face a MUCH greater risk if they are in situations where they come into contact with potential carriers of a disease.

My doctor said that she didn't vaccinate her daughter as she used to be more "midwife minded" (her words, not mine) but thought that I should vaccinate my child. She also blatently denied that the chicken pox vaccine causes chicken pox even though the info packet she gave me clearly stated that it can.

In addition she told me I *had to* start night weaning my SEVEN WEEK old baby, if not then by three months at the latest.

Can you say "FIRED"

[BTW maybe you can help me. Once upon a time I had a link to an article that compared what medical textbooks say now about vaccine preventable illness and what they used to say before vaccines. For example for measles now they say it causes all sorts of complications, but before the text book would say "measles is generally well tolerated by children aged whatever, children should be monitored for blah blah" I really wish to find it again and never have any luck looking it up]

Of coarse the doctor would not tell the truth about vaccines. If people knew the truth about vaccines they wouldn't get vaccinated. Vaccines are big money for doctors.

No, my doctor didn't tell me everything but his nurse answered a lot of my questions and I did some research of my own. I was nervous about them being vaccinated(a person in my family had a horrible reaction to one of the shots) but they got their shots and everything is fine. I think that having the shot out weighs not getting them. But to each their own, my sister is not vaccinating her child.

No but I had read about it previously. I made an informed decision and I think the dangers of vaccines outweigh the dangers of actually contracting the disease.

Besides, many school districts REQUIRE that children been vaccinated in order to enroll in school.

Of course not. luckily, i did my own research. No way i would put that crap into my precious perfect babies!

Its sick that so many people don't even bother to read up on it. i am repulsed by the doctor=god mentality that so many parents rely on.

When my daughter was in public school, we signed a simple exemption. She is homeschooled now, as my son wil be.

Yes, my pediatrician has handouts describing the possible side effects, etc.

It is definitely a very personal choice.

I chose to vaccinate, because I couldn't live with myself if my little guy died of a preventable disease.

Yes, our pediatrician was very comprehensive when discussing vaccinations with us and we decided to full immunize our son. The links you posted are very biased. To fully inform yourself you should look at both sides as we did. Here are a few links ...
