Place a small screw or tack just before the sliding "bolt" of the lock so the card cannot "slip" the lock yet not interfere with the normal operation of the lock.

On the extremely cheap, you can do this with a small piece of wood or metal, about 3" by 8". If the door swings into your room, mount it on the frame so that it covers the crack between the door and the frame over the lock area when the door is closed, protecting the lock area from credit cards and butter knives for about 8". If the door swings out, do the same thing with the plate on the door. You can check this out with a piece of cardboard and some tape and you'll see what I mean. You will still be able to enter your door with a key, but you won't be able to pick it with a credit card unless you disassemble the whole works, which takes more tools and effort than the casual jerk is likely to care to employ.

I'm assuming you're referring to the cards they use at hotels. Lock the deadbolt.

Edit: Just realized you meant a credit card or something similar. A deadbolt or a hooking lock would work. You screw the hook and loop into the door and facing.

Installing a deadbolt will do the trick. Or... wait on the other side with a pair of scissors and cut the card.

Install a guard. It goes on the outside of the door and covers the latch. you can see them on office doors.

put two finish nails in the trim that the door shuts up against, equal in line with the top and bottom of the lock.then you can set them and fill in the nail holes. and tell your folks so they ground your sibling.
