My husband is very chivalrous, though he is married to an Alpha Feminist. You'd think he would be a wimp, but he's anything but that. Big old macho brick mason with his own strong opinions and no shyness about expressing them. We get on great, but we are also polite and respectful to each other. He still opens those doors, and I am happy to let him do so because it makes him happy and its no skin off my nose. I know he still feels he is my protector and I would never try to make him feel like I don't need that. There's a balance that can be reached and it really isn't that hard. Common respect for each others intellect is the place to start. Then all that surface crap like a woman being offended by a man opening a door just drifts away. It isn't a war, and it doesn't have to be when both parties are reasonable, easy going and not oversensitive. I can understand the confusion among a lot of men though. They are raised to be chivalrous and then finds it offends some women. I think the answer is really to understand that chivalry doesn't have to reflect being patronizing, and women need to understand that as much as men do.

not entirely but here is an example, in chivalry it would be polite to open the door for a female...well the first time i got my butt chewed for doing it i said screw this. women will have to get used to it i can see how this would not be the most romantic resolution but it is hard for males to know what to do in todays society to begin with let alone multiple sets of rules

Of course not.I am married.I would do anything to protect my wife or any women from harm etc.Yes,I would even throw my coat down in a muddy puddle so the women would not get her shoes/feet wet.To me chivalry & treating your lady with total respect are one of the same.
