If you are running Windows
press "ctrl+Alt+delete"
click on performance
under "physical memory" is the info that you want
pull up your calculator and divide by 1024 to change the number shown into MB

Click "Ctrl". "Alt" and "Delete" on your keyboard at the same time. Windows Task Manager will come up. Then Click the "Performance" tab in the middle and you should see how much memory is available.
