Maybe you live in a neighborhood that they don't come to.If they don't, you should have the right to carry a gun.

Getting away from the inevitable uninformed tirade against the police and back to the original question of "are my rights violated when 911 doesn't show up"....the answer is no.

What rights, exactly, were violated? The Supreme Court handed down a decision several years ago saying that the general public had no "right" to police protection, and that it was the responsibility of the individual citizen to protect themselves. If your situation was serious enough that you called 911 you obviously thought it was an emergency, so I have to echo the question of why did you stand around for "over an hour" without doing something else? You could have at least called again...or called the PD directly....something, I would think. You most certainly have grounds for a complaint, but as for your "rights" being violated....no.

Why did you call 911? Was there a crime? A medica call? You say the person you were calling 911 for ended up attacking. Attacking what or who? What does that mean? Elaborate more on your question so we can properly answer.

depending on the nature of the call..an hour or more is not unreasonable for a non emergency call. did you leave after that hour..if so, how do you know they didn't show up? calls are taken by priority so maybe something more life threatening took precedent... so no, i don't think your rights were violated & if you or your friend were in danger, you should have left & went to a safe place & recontacted the police to come there

Well, you called 911. You say you waited an HOUR for them to come? If you called 911 I assume it was an emergency. Why did you stand around for an hour wondering where they were. You should have called again or driven them yourself.

Unfortunately not by the police but by your attacker yes. I do not recall the actual case but it was found that the police are not directly responsible for the protection of individuals. They are responsible for general public safety.

Sorry to hear you were attacked. You may want to look into some sort of self defense for this very reason. Hope you never have another incident like this.

First demand a copy of your 911 call with a lawyer, than show a crime was committed and how much time lapsed when this happened. And then sue them. Get a video camera and tape this stuff man. Then take it to the media. The government is taping us so lets start taping them. When J Edgar Hoover illegally tapped the Kennedys and King they did it right back to him. So lets do it.

Depends on what the actual call was about an dwhat you reported. Police will be dispatched to calls depending on the severity of the call. Priority calls come first and its not like, I called before someone else did, it depends on the nature of the call.

One guy said it was the fault of the police, but it's not true. 911 calls don't go straight to the police. They go to an operator who contacts them and gives them directions. I would go to my local police station and complain.

Shame to all officers out there who dont pay attention to crimes and only pay attention on Donuts and Football. I think you should keep the history of the calls on the phone. So if you sue them then you would have evidence.
