How do I create a Local Security Policy that only displays the preferred icons, applications and desktop background and Restricts file, drive and application access.
In addition is it possible to have single click items (possiblely using some kind of software launcher) I once saw a kiosk that had three single click choices and the desktop was totally hidden, that would be the ideal situation.

Security against malicious attacks is not a concern because the kiosk will be loaded with preschool computer games.

Dear concerned teacher,

The answer to this covers a little bit of knowledge using GPEDIT.MSC which open the local computer policy in a quicker manner. Those settings can be configured under the administrator account of the machine and you can lock down the desktop pretty tight. The key thing to remember is after making all your desired changes as the administrator, you may want to create few user accounts that the students must authenticate with before using computer kiosk.

I agree totally where security preventing Malware is not a concern due to the age factor here, but more of hiding and customizing the desktop is your over-all objective. Your main point of emphasis is going to be on User configuration, admin templates and then the desktop folder. With a few changes via an admin account you will have all those icons off the desktop within minutes. Good luck and excellent question, if I can be of anymore assistance in the future shoot me an email
