i wanna here what you think on something. How do you know God really exists? we grow up in a society were 2+2=4, but if we were to grow up in a society were they said 5+9= 1 then we would believe them because we wouldn't have anything else to show that there is a difference, but what if we are living a lie, we have grown up in this to society that says God is real, if we were to grow up somewhere else that said God didn't exist then we would believe them and say that anyone else who differs is talking crap. So to some up how do we know he really exists and that it isn't the society filling our heads with a load of crap. For me i believe in God but i wanna here what YOU think on all of this.

First of all, mathematics has underlying principles that prove why 2+2 = 4 and why 5+9 does not = 1. (not the time to lecture on that though).

The belief of God is a faith based belief. This means that our belief is the creation of our reality. (Faith is the evidence of things not seen). There for the basis of proving the existence of God is "if I believe in God, God is real".

I spent a number of years searching for answers to the faith question. I studied numerous religions and faiths. I even reviewed the atheist stance for validity. It wasn't until my life hit rock bottom and I was face with utter desolation, that I found I turned to God and I felt answered. My entire outlook and attitudes changed. My life became completely new and better. My life now is so completely different is as I am a different person now.

What I'm getting at is that you can not PROVE God, and yes it may be a construct of you upbringing, but in the moment of crisis, where you turn proves your beliefs. Beliefs (rational or irrational) are reality (as Plato states, perception is reality).

Therefore, there doesn't seem to be any way to know the real existence of God, except through our beliefs.

To put in another way. Say your parents raise you by feeding you broccoli every day. They tell you is is GREAT, and teach you to LOVE the broccoli. As you get older, you encounter other people who scoff at your appreciation of Broccoli, saying broccoli is bad, and your LOVE of it is false because your parent's brain-washed you to think that way. Does this then mean that you Love of broccoli is false and untrue? NO, because you believe and experience the joy of broccoli. Your perception and experiences with broccoli have proven that broccoli is good. Can you measure it? Can you prove it? At best you can argue it based on your experiences and beliefs, but I who wasn't raised on broccoli will never believe and every time I eat it, I get sick. So my belief is the broccoli is bad, and I can not conceive of your love of this green stuff.

(ok sorry for the long winded lecture and analogy) I appreciated the question, gave me a chance to lecture...=). Basically, belief is like emotion, right or wrong doesn't apply, it just is, and that is all it needs as proof.

People believe what they want to believe. If they ask proof of God's existence, show them the bible.

I don't know that God exisits. That's why I'm agnositc. Until it's proven one way or the other I will not believe in God nor will I deny there is no God.

We are all entitled to believe what we want to believe. We can also choose to have faith in what we want to have faith in.
