Perhaps it is to make us feel like we have that security that we still have the option of putting the lid back on if we really want to. LOL! Those lids are pretty pathetic when it comes to staying on though. Ever notice they just seem to fall back off on their own? It is like they are taunting you... just crying out... "eat me!" LOL!

good question... guess it is for those of who that have enough self control to make a container last for a whole day... or maybe even two.
i usually can make a can last for a few days for my lunches at work. my bf cannot manage to make a can last more than a few minutes, though.
