My friend is getting married in Taiwan and told me that he read this as being one of the requirements. Can this be found in the local courthouse perhaps? Any help would be appreciated.

Apparently, 'catspaw' didn't bother to read the whole question. You can't prove a negative assertion. You can get affidavits from several people stating that they don't know of any previous marriage, but no one can prove that something didn't happen. His county clerk can make a notarized affidavit that no marriage certificate is on record in his home county, but that doesn't 'prove' anything, either.

That's why you don't go to third world countries for anything other than vacations.

No such thing. Maybe you can get a certificate that a particular county has no record of marriage though.
