I think it is wishful thinking. LOL! I must admit I had to giggle thinking about doing that very thing myself. It is sort of like when you find the most comfortable position possible on the couch and you just KNOW if you move you will never get it back, and you come to that horrible realization that no matter how hard you push the button, the TV is just NOT going to change channels anymore... and then worst of worst... some stupid infomercial comes on TV and rather than lose that spot on the couch, you just watch it... *whistles and looks around as she picks up the remote and tries to change the channel* LOL!

By the way, here is a tip for those of us who truly NEED that last click of the channel. This really works too and I can not count how many times I have used it. Take out both batteries and put them between your palms. Rub your hands back and forth so the batteries are being rolled between them for about a minute. Something about the warmth and the rolling pressure seems to get those things to go for a few more days. Try it! It might just save you that snuggley spot on the couch a few times! ;)

HA HA! I do not know. That is really funny. I think that it works though. I have a garage door opener that you have to press hard. The light comes on, on the remote, that the button is being pressed, it works better when I press it harder.

I feel that the connection may be better if I press hard. Maybe jiggle that last bit out of the battery.

Because we are too lazy to get up and change the channel or to find new batteries, so we hope that by pushing really hard it will magically make it work and our lives will return to normal!

The same reason we click the mouse button 10 times when the page isn't loading fast enough, and the same reason we try to use the brakes when we are a passenger in a car that isn't slowing fast enough. FRUSTRATION

When I was younger on my NES, I would move the controller to the right if I wanted to make my guy go right in addition to pushing the right arro.. like it would help or something.

haha, I find laughing at myself is entirely too easy.

The same reason you turn down the radio when you're trying to read street signs or house numbers!
