For BF2, the controls are not very detailed. It's not like playing a flight simulator where you might need extra buttons, like putting your landing gear up, lowering or raising your flaps, or switching on your landing lights.

In BF2 I just use a simple 20 dollar Saitek. Make sure whatever joystick you get is able to "twist" - ie: be used as a rudder.

I have the cheap ST290 Pro. In BF2, that's all you need.
