He threw up this morning just after waking up (all he'd had was a fresh bottle of Whole Milk, and then again upon putting him to bed (again all I gave him was a bottle of milk). any suggestions?

He isn't lactose intolerant, he has been doing fine on regular whole milk for 4 months now...

drinking the bottle too fast could do it. that just happened to my son a few days ago. he had his cup and chugged it and then he threw up a few min later. or if he had a lot of acid in his stomach and the milk could have curddled in his stomach making him puke.

maybe he just has a bug? Does he have a fever? could be early signs of the flu. Make sure he is getting plenty of fluids like water and pedialite. Check the expiration date on the milk carton, just to be sure it's still good. make sure the bottles get completely rinsed of all soap residue, That could also make someone sick.
I would just watch him and if he gets any other signs or vomits more call the doctors for some advice.
As for the answer above: A temperature of 100 is not a fever in a child. And is no reason to take a baby to the ER. If the Fever gets over 104 then call the doctor. I just went though this with my 13 month old son, and it's what the doctor told me.

Well it's actually "good" that your baby threw up.That means
What ever he ingested that was wrong got puked out mostly.
When my kid was a new "baby" he always "burped" on his own
(another story)He never spit up(well literly maybe twice the first two days home). The thing is I was expecting it
and actually felt depressed considering his digeestive order
was functioning beyond what I expected or read or had been
told about. No I don't mean anything bad but I was ready to burp pat all that "bonding stuff" I didn of course no sooner then I patted his back ...BLuuurp often just as I was going to and he didn't need it or want it.All he seemed to want was to be put down for sleep. So I guess he was very independen in nature I don't know.I was actually afraid to listen to my newborn babies heartbeat as I held him close..Okay but whatever..,...It's good that your baby threw up what is not good for him.Unless he is allergic to ketchup or something..
I held him him close

Milk allergy. They develop suddenly. Could also be
a high bacteria count in the milk. Dump out whats left, go to the store and buy more. Sometimes just before it goes bad it gets a lot of bacteria but doesn't look, smell, or taste bad.
Make sure you fridge keeps it under 40 degrees F.
If it's a virus, he'd be runnng a low grade fever.
Take his temp. If its high, above 100 F take him to the ER.
He may have food poisoning, or something else more serious.

Is he running a temp? Maybe a stomach bug or upset tummy.
Does he normally drink that brand of milk? Did you try the milk to see if it's fresh? Did he drink nothing but milk? (A 15-month old should have solids - too much milk might upset his stomach enough for him to throw up)

The good news is...sometimes kids just throw up. No reason, and they are fine. Weird, but welcome to being a parent.

was the milk bad? Sometimes it doesn't smell bad but it is.

what else did he eat? He may have just picked up a mild flu bug.
How much milk did you give him? Sometimes babies appetites fluctuate especially if his body is "resting" now and he's not having a growth spurt. If that's the case, he may have simply ingested too much milk by finishing the bottle.

The milk could have went sour on his little stomach. Its happened to my baby. When they drink and go to sleep sometimes it will not settle right and theyll puke. But nothing to worry about. Try giving him a little juice when you put him to bed. But dont worry. These things happen.

Lactose intolerance, spoiled milk, stomach virus?

2007-01-07 00:17:28 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

well is the first time he has puked? watch for any other symptoms. if he's doing fine then just forget it. my girl is 16 months old, she throws up for no apparent reason. sometimes she does it once a day... yeah for no apparent reason. she's doing fine. so nothing's wrong. sometimes kids don't like or are overfilled so they tend to throw up what's extra! So anything not digested has come out. Don't worry if he has done it only once. If he repeats it chk with the doc. I feel its nothing to worry :)
