Create a diamond (a square turned on its point), then make half-circles from each of the upper sides with a diameter equal to the side of the square. I'm not talented enough to draw it in ASCII, but that's how I used to make heart-shaped cakes with a 9-inch round and 9-inch square pan.

Create a 45 degree "V". Create a circle tangent to both sides. Move the circle in + "Y" and - "X" until it's right side is almost to the centerline. Mirror/Copy the circle to the right side and trim the circles away.
