I wanna take a test tomorrow, so should I just drink water tonight? I usually have a can of pop at night, so should I skip that? Would that make any difference in how diluted my pee would be? Sorry I know I sound stupid and of course if I am pregnant, I am not going to drink soda anymore. Should I just stick to water?

Most test you can take anytime during the day. However your hcg is highest when you first go pee. Generally you don't have to drink a whole lot of liquids when taking your first morning. The first time you wake up and need to go pee, that is when you take the test. Water is good to stick to anyway but as long as when you first wake up and need to go pee, use the pregnancy test and do not drink any fluids until after you take the test. Otherwise it does not matter. The reason they say first morning urine is because you have not normally drank anything.

Do I have to test with my first morning urine (FMU)? Not necessarily. In general, FMU is the most concentrated urine of the day and thus more likely to have built up more hCG in it. If you are testing early (before 14 DPO), the HPT is more likely to detect the hCG in your FMU. After 14 DPO there should be enough hCG to be detected at any time of day. Some women have better luck with second morning urine (SMU.) A good rule of thumb: hold your pee for 3-4 hours (and drink as little as possible!) Then pee in a cup. If your urine looks nice and yellow, it's concentrated enough for testing (see FAQ 16 below for more info on peeing in cups vs. peeing on sticks.) If it looks diluted, dump it and try again later.

I don't think it would matter too much, if you went to the toilet tonight after you have the soda. I would take the test with the first pee of the morning and water is much better to have if you are pregnant too (although I can't talk because I like softdrink too.)

As long as you haven't had anything to eat or drink, or peed in the last 3 hours before you took the test, your test should be fine.

You don't need to have a drink of water for your test tmorrow, but it won't hurt either.

Either will be fine.... And you don't have to cut out caffeine if you are prego either... You can have between 300 and 400 mgs.. each day...
