Yes, almost every time. My last name can be spelled in various ways. It sounds the same. It's just the spelling. My father tells me that no matter what the spelling though that we are all related in some way. Go figure!

Yes, new for me. I went from an easy 5 letter Irish name to a difficult 8 letter German name when I got married this past year!

Yes. My husband has a German last name that has a million and one different ways to spell it.

I have to spell it out and if I am somewhere waiting for them to call my name they usually look at it, pause and then just say my first name. We use my bf's name for ordering pizza or on a wait at restaurants, it's just easier.
It is very easy to weed out those telemarketers that will pretend to know you too. They butcher my name.

Yes! And pronounce it for other people, too. It's not a very common name and is never pronounced correctly, even by some of my family.

my last name is famous, and has a magazine named after it... and i still have to spell it... and use small words for each letter...
people are so stupid, it is amazing.
