There are pretty much no leagues or cliniques for these sports where I live. We do have school teams, but I've tried them, and they don't really teach you anything. (I am on them, though.) How could I learn to get better at these two sports on my own? I don't have any family members who know much about either one, and I'm limited on supplies. I have a volleyball and basketball, but I don't have any nets for either sport. (And my parents aren't willing to invest in them) I don't have a volleyball court near me (Although there's a beach volleyball-style court a few miles away, but it takes too long to walk to), but I am near a basketball court. But it's about two miles away, so I only get the opportunity to go once or twice a week, because sometimes I get home late because of other plans. So how can I get better at the two sports even with these obstacales?

1. I can't get a net. It's not the price, it's our area.

2. My "other plans" are things I can't avoid. They're either projects/schoolwork or after school sport teams.

3. I know that I need to practice, but what I'm asking is /how/ to I practice. I don't know many of the drills that most players go through, let alone any of the skills that should be performed in games. (And I can't practice if I don't know what to do. ;] )

with the basketball, just go out in your driveway( or whatever small area of concret you might have around) and dribble the ball left handed then right handed, in place then in motion, after you get decent with both hands start dribbling with your eyes closed left handed and right handed, then start walking around dribbling with you eyes closed, this will help you ball handling skills alot. Good Luck!!

save up you money to buy a goal and net and practice at home. what about after school, practice then. you may need to change your "other plans" if you really want to get better at these sports. as the old saying goes: practice makes perfect

playing and practicing is the only way to get better at either. i know that there are a million obstacles, but if you want it bad enough you will find a way. ask a teammate if the want to play after school, maybe they have the means that you don't, plus having someone to practice against can only make you better. don't know if that helps, good luck!
