You can always try to sue.

You can talk to a lawyer for free & if he takes you case his fees will come out of the settlement.

You can sue the people that did the damage also.

The most he can probably do is sue the guys who jumped him and make them pay for his expenses.

Now if he'd walked into the bar, slipped on some beer or something in the floor, fell, and got busted up he could sue the bar owners. That would be the bar's responsibility to keep the place clean and safe in that sense.

However, a fight isn't really the bar's fault. When someone goes to a bar they kinda have to expect that at some point something ugly may happen with people getting drunk or having a bit too much to sip on.

In most states::the "DRAM SHOP LAW" is a statutory liability law that is alleged against the seller of intoxicating liquors ;when a third party is injured as a result of the intoxication of the buyer ;where the sale has caused or contributed to such intoxication. Sue thier a@@; & the intoxicating people who hurt u r friend. The idea is to sue as many as possible ;therefore ending
up with the main suit you really want. I was sued in a fight with my brother, for just that reason. G L.

Anybody can sue anybody for anything. We live in a very litigation-crazed society. Your friend's best bet would be to sue the three guys who assaulted him for damages. The bar had a responsibility to not over serve their patrons, but, it would be pretty hard to prove that they had any direct responsibility for the three guy's behavior. Your friend should speak to a contingency attorney, one who would not charge up front, but would get a percentage of any settlement your friend is awarded. The three guys do have a legal/civil obligation to compensate your friend for his damages (injuries/medical bills). A lawyer is needed to clarify the grounds for the lawsuits.

someone can definately be sued here. Call a lawyer immediately. Most likely he'd do it cheaply or even free knowing that the bar or those guys were at fault. The longer your friend waits, the worse.

They guys were raising a ruckus, your buddy was there and he could not figure out on his own that he should get out but he wants to hold the bar responsible for his lack of action.

Maybe there is a victim's fund to help with his medical expenses.

Your buddy needs to sue the men who were arrested, the ones who broke his jaw since they were at fault for asault and battery,The way I see it the bar was not at fault.

I would go after the three guys that did the harm. They, not the bar, are responsible for the injuries.
