I get hours and hours of homework every night, on weekends, and even on holidays. This past summer, I was really close to becoming an Eagle Boy Scout, but now I can't go to any meetings because of his homework. On top of everything else, I it's the most borning class I've ever taken. He's ruining my high school experience. What should I do?

I like history and my history teacher. She does give a lot of homework but its always something intresting and not those boring "answer these questions."
You should really talk to your teacher....and maybe, b'coz you hate your teacher, you might feel that his classes are boring, when you understand the subject and like it, automatically, homework becomes less tiresome

If you were my son I would suggest you do the following.

1. Talk to the teacher. Ask him why he is assigning the homework. Ask if everybody in all his history classes are getting this same treatment or is it just your class. Ask him if you can provide proof of your understanding in other ways (a term paper or something else that does not involve intensive homework).

2. Talk to a counselor in the school. Ask the counselor the same questions as in #1.

3. Talk to your folks about it and get them in the loop. Have them come in only as a last resort.

4. Ask for a transfer to another class.

If you or your class are being singled out for extra homework or some type of punishment, then the teacher needs to be reprimanded by the school for this action.

If you or your class are in an honors class or other class that has accellerated goals, then I suspect that complaining will not work and you are just going to have to find another class.

Your parents should jump into this only if you cannot get resolution on your own. I always gave my four sons counsel on what to say, but they were the ones who actually said it. On most occasions, their conversation was sufficient to get the situation changed. On a couple of them it took me coming in and discussing it. But you gain invaluable experience in dealing with hard issues by handling it yourself, so I really suggest you get your parents in the loop and discuss exactly what you are going to say, but then you take the lead and just report the results to them. Best of luck... I know it is not easy.

Are his homework assignments that heavy for everyone? How are they in relation to what other teachers assign? If there is a demonstrable inequity, you and your classmates can take it up with either a counsellor or the principal or v-p.
If he's a boring teacher, that's just something you have to put up with. It would be wonderful if all teachers could make sparkling presentations, like they do in the movies, but it just ain't gonna happen. But the homework matter is quite another issue and that's something that can be dealt with.
good luck to you.

I actually receive more homework than you because I'm in full I.B classes, which are more advance than a regular class. If I were u, I'd stop complaining and deal with it. Loads of homework is part of high school u know.

Just do your best the rest of this school year. Next year you probably won't have him as a teach and you'll be able to try out to be an Eagle Boy Scout again.

I agree a hundred% with Mackle. Come on you adult men. you're able to be fortunate to in uncomplicated terms have such issues. seem right here is the deal. the instructor isn't a bad instructor till a majority of the class is failing. seem at your classmates, if maximum of them are passing and/or doing properly, then you definately're the single with the undertaking. historic past itself is a monotonous undertaking. some human beings hate historic past, some hate Math, some hate technology, some hate Grammar, all human beings's have been on condition that one undertaking or so, that merely bores the hell out of them. What you're able to desire to do, is make it exciting for you. it extremely is the 1st factor. verify a thank you to absolutely want to earnings historic past. in case you're able to do this, I assure you will a minimum of get a C. After that, ask the instructor what you're able to do to advance your grade. opposite to what human beings in right here think of, instructors don't have a great number of capability. instructors choose their scholars to be triumphant and to do properly of their classification. yet they are no longer going to easily supply you stable marks because of the fact of that. you nevertheless would desire to earn it. There are some instructors available, who're too obdurate of their varieties to attain that it would desire to no longer be working, and that's obtrusive while a great number of the class is suffering, and that they might desire to consistently "curve" try rankings, to hold grades up. yet maximum instructors truthfully care approximately their scholars, it is the scholars who do no longer shield the class or for college frequently. you won't be in a position to assume the instructor who could have as much as 30 scholars in a classification, have the skill to tailor specifically on your needs. That being reported, in case you ask the instructor what you're able to do to hold your grade up, they are going to better than possibly be better than chuffed to grant advice. of direction, you're able to desire to be doing the basics, like your homework and examining forward and being arranged for sophistication. while you're extremely doing all your superb, and not "in uncomplicated terms sufficient" to get via, then in case you ask your instructor what else you're able to do, he will certainly supply you an answer. No instructor hates a student, even nonetheless they may well be bored stiff with a student's physique of ideas or loss of attempt or interest, a instructor is a instructor because of the fact they want to instruct. And instructors want to instruct because of the fact they choose you to earnings.
