There is a difference between spanking a child and beating them. Spanking is not abuse.....kids get away with too much in this day and age.

theres a difference between spanking and child abuse. a few quick whacks on the butt (but not too hard) is a spanking. child abuse is when you hit your child for a long time and as hard as you can hit.

as much as i hate the bible one thing in it holds true. spare the rod. spoil the child.

sorry but when I was a child I always thought twice before doing something. as I knew what I was about to do was wrong and my mom would tan my hide.

if it was todays day and age. then I would do it without question. as what is so bad about a timeout. what does it do to make a child not do again. NOTHING!!!!!!!!!

9 times out of 10 you can tell a child who gets a spanking over the lame timeout. the child that gets spankings is most the time well behaved and when they do act up the child's parents just has to look at them and they straighten up. where as the child that doesn't get a spanking acts like he or she rules her parents as they know they would hit them.

as much as I hated to get a spanking. I am glad my mother did. or I would of prob became a criminal or menace to society.

I tap my childs butt from time to time. tell you one thing wen I do it he wont do it again. but I only tap him when its somehting major. I still do the timeout thing. but sometimes you need something more than having a child sitting. you need something to get their attention and show them that what they are doing is wrong.

if its right or wrong. who is to say. peopel that passed the bill. I bet got their butts spanked and prob their way of getting even with their parents.

as long as it dont leave a bruise its not child abuse. in all my years of getting my butt spanked. I never had a bruise. so to me no bruise not child abuse.

Not a spanking, but beating yes. Some of the ridiculously cruel things done to children are definately abuse.

I don't think a child should be beat, but I believe spanking should be permitted without question. Why should you, me or anyone else be child abused by an unruley or spoiled, difficult child? Please no wonder these kids are going to schools killing people! They have no guidence & have no fear because they know they can have their parents put in jail for looking at them wrong.

Yes in ways..anyone who knows how to talk to their children shouldn't have to spank them...BUT....I have had to spank mine to keep them out of the litter box so it depends on the situation and the severity of the spanking...no matter what it shouldn't occur on a daily basis. If it does they are looking for an easy solution instead of getting to the root of the problem.

I believe spanking is child abuse. It is degrading and teaches children to use violence and pain to get what they want. I hope you don't spank your kids.
