Nah...sounds like he's a little insecure with himself or with the friendship, so he has to constantly reassure himself that the person is still his best friend. I have a friend who does that, and it's really annoying.

My best friend is straight. Be mature, when you call someone a friend you don't care about their sexuality. You care about their friendship because friends are kindred souls. What they do in their private moments shouldn't be on your mind. What should be on your mind is how you and the one other person interact. No harm no crime.
