I recently decided to get my nipples peirced to enhance my sexual experiences, but as a keen swimmer I am worried of the implications this could have on my hobby. Several people have complained that my infected nipples are contaminating the pool water, and an 8 year old boy recently "claimed" to have swallowed one of my nipple scabs. I am hoping that my nipples will stop seeping fluid soon, but should I take out the rings in the meantime?

not if you want them to heal eventually.
but maybe you should refrain from swimming for a few days, which will also allow for better healing. a public bath is not exactly the most healthy environment for an inflamed wound... and if they do not heal within a week, go see a doctor.

I can't imagine that anyone will get ill from your nipple ring when in a pool, given the chlorine in the water.

However, if you want it to heal properly, I would suggest avoiding the pool for at least a week or so. From experience (although not with nipple rings!) scabs and other scratches and wounds do not heal well when exposed to pool water too often.

Make sure if you do go swimming you clean the ring and surrounding area properly afterwards.

With most sports I'm sure trainers (as well as other users) would recommend either taking off jewellery so it doesn't catch or scratch anyone else, or putting tape over the area. So the hole doesn't close up you'll have to use tape (once it has healed) - I hope it doesn't hurt too much pulling it off afterwards!

This has got to be one of the most inane questions I have ever read. Wow! If you are "seeping" and/or losing nipple scabs, then you should probably just not get in the d*** pool. That will probably help your piercings heal a little faster and then you can get on with your sexually enhanced swimming lifestyle.

I am OK with nipple piercing and OK with the swimming hobby, but this question blows me away . . .

I wouldn't reccomend removing the ring because you will lose the piercing. Swimming with others cannot harm them at all, however swimming in public pools can cause more infection to your nipple. Make sure you clean around the piercing after every swim. Also, lavender oil helps as it promotes healing and lubricates the wound reducing tenderness.

It sounds weird but take a bath and use a small cup and put warm water in it with sea salt. The salt helps kills the bacteria and helps it heal. It stings but it really works!! When I got mine done they got infected from swimming and that's what i got told to do. And they've healed great! Try that and see if it works. After a couple weeks and it doesn't improve go to the doctor!! Good Luck =)

Of course, definitely. When you're on a sport you shouldn't be wearing any jewelry on your body. I used to get scolded by my coach whenever I wear accessories that's why I never wear accessories. I mean, that is beside your problem with the "fluid" thing, do you get what I mean? I hope somehow I was able to help you. ^__^ Happy new year. . .

Keep the ring in, but stay out of the pool. Hopefully, it will heal soon and you will be back in the pool before you know it.

Yes, otherwise people will start getting sick, and your nipples will be infected!
