Why can't they just answer the question without personally insulting me or attacking me? I don't understand. I'm sure conservatives do personal attacks as well, but the liberals are just vicious and they usually never end up answering the question in the first place. I just want to hear some civilized answers to this question.

I am so liberal that I even surprise myself sometimes, but...when I see a real question asked by a conservative, I try to give it a real answer. (I almost BEG for real answers to my questions...I want to know what you are thinking and how you arrive at your conclusions. That is the only way to have a meaningful dialog.)

But sometimes the questions are so vacuous, or so meant to just be put-downs, that my cynical, sarcastic side just lets my fingers do the "talking".

I think we could all be better citizens if we open our minds to what the other side is saying. But just to see "George Bush is a fine man", or "Love it or leave it" solves nothing.

I've learned a great deal from the serious answers I've read here. But the crap (like "Why are Libs so immoral?") is just crap and deserves to be "capped".

When someone attacks another person personally for a question that they disagree with it is simply because the have nothing intelligent to say. They don't want to answer the question because that would require them to think of a logical answer to give. Most of the time people who do this don't even know why they disagree they just disagree because its the "in-thing" to do, they want to belong so the play along. Rest assured that anyone who is uncivilized enough as to attack you for your questions that they have already lost the argument before it has even begun. When this happens in person just yawn and stare at them blankly. It isn't much but it is far more civilized and intelligent then what they did. People like this aren't really interested in truth or civilized debate they just want to win by intimidation.

I am not a liberal but I hope that was civilized enough for you.

Why is it OK for me to be called a "cracker", "honky", Whitey, etc and it's not OK for me to use derogatory terms for protected classes? Double standards. Our civil service (don't know why they are called that cause they are neither civil nor do they perform a service) work force is 83% minority populated. Most limited skilled work is done now by illegal aliens. There are people on welfare who's parents were raised on welfare. No matter what people say, it is a liberal ran country. Most liberal would rather spit on you from a crowd than do their duty. This happened to me when I came back from Vietnam. Conservatives are too busy trying to make a living and pay taxes to spend too much time coming up with great comebacks so the liberals think they are really smart instead of just lazy.

Oh come on dude: you know as well as I do that the Conservatives on this site are just as guilty for throwing personal insults at us libs when we post a question that flies in the face of their beliefs. This is just a second nature to many people, and I have found that it's usually the ones that are somewhat unsure of the truth in their beliefs who are the worst at lashing out when they are challenged. It's the same with religion. I sort of enjoy it myself. Like Malcolm X once said: "Too much agreement spoils a good chat."

I have gotten hate mail from both sides!!
Was called ignorant and stupid by a liberal.
Was flat out told I was stupid and talked down too by a republican who made me sound like he was writing to a two years old.
Then I have gotten sincere and honest reply from people on both sides too.
There are very valid points that I agree with on both sides. There are also some major points I don't agree with on both sides. I use to consider myself a liberal before I start yahoo but today the lights came on and I am a conservative democrat!!
I guess I can thank Yahoo Answers!

It is my opinion that if someone can't come up with an answer they attack. Or if they know you are right, they attack. I know this happens with people of all political persuasions but it does seem the radical libs do it the most. Now you know how Bush feels, being attacked and accused constantly.

Well, conservatives slam liberal-leaning questions all the time. If I were to ask, "Why can't conservatives accept that abortion should be a personal choice?", the backlash would be overwhelming. Each end of the political spectrum has its intolerant and immature followers; Both Democrats and Republicans can and do act childish at times.
