I've been feeding my 8 month old baby big boys food like noodle soup, macaroni and cheese, breads, rice and things like that. Is that O.K????

You might want to avoid foods that are high allergy risks, but otherwise, there is absolutely no problem with it. Many people avoid baby food entirely and make their own food from the moment their baby starts eating solids. Homemade definitely tastes better, too! Make sure you give him lots of fruits and vegetables too. Applesauce, yogurt, green beans, creamy corn, and peas have been hits in my house.

Once your baby is on solid foods there is nothing wrong with feeding him/her "grown up food". Food allergies are very important to keep track of in the early stages so if you are going to do this, make sure you dont go for a wide variety of foods right away. One thing at a time and make sure the baby is ok with it.

Do NOT feed your baby nuts or soy milk. There may be other foods that are no good, but I know those 2 can be dangerous, not only for allergies, but because they can lead to under-nourishment.

Yes it is ok but just watch what you give him. Certain food are high allergen foods, and should be given after the age of one. Babycenter.com has wonderful information on the topic. Just be observant after he eats and if there is a reaction dont give him that food again. Seafood, dairy products, and chocolate are just a few high allergen foods. Hotdogs and other tubular foods should be avoided because they can lodge in the windpipe. If he is very eager to eat real food I suggest some of the gerber finger foods theyre made more for little tummies. My 8 month old loves the little puffs finger foods which come in a variety of flavors, biter biscuits, the finger food raviolis, and fruits.

go for it. Stick to foods that are easily mushed or the baby will choke.....in other words, no foods that require chewing. You may find that a lot will pass in the stool without being digested....this is normal until the body figures out how to digest.

My baby was getting stage 2 foods at 4 months...the formula and cereals weren't cutting it any more........at 7 months she was eating a combination of stage 3 and regular foods until she realized that the jar foods just weren't as good and INSISTED on regular foods

Our doctor advised against giving solids until 1 year old. We tried sticking to this but we still gave our son, who is four years now and our daughter who is currently 8 months too. They are both healthy and I think the main reason they suggest against it is possibly choking hazard and to be easier on there digestive systems. Be extremely careful, and if you are gonna give solids try to evaluate your child's ability to chew these foods safely. Also no spicy foods.

There should be no problems with giving him these kids of foods providing they are cut up into sizes he can accommodate and watch the rice as it can get stuck in his throat. You also might try incorporating vegetables.

Watch out for nuts (including peanut butter), honey, citrus, tomato, and foods with a lot of additives. All the stuff you said above is probably fine.

my daughter is 10 months now and i have fed her that kind of stuff for a few months. i just watch her carefully to make sure she doesn't choke. i also don't give her anything with milk in it since she isn't old enough for cow's milk yet. it shouldn't hurt anything though.
