I have a 20 gb Xbox 360 HD and I only have one arcade game which is under 1/2 a gig and a couple of saved games and I only have around 13 gb left on my HD.

I deleted all of the stock music and videos that came on the Xbox but I still only have this much.

Does anyone know what it taking up about 7 gb on my Xbox HD?

The hard drive is technically 20 gb, but 7 gb of those is reserved for system use.

Here's the link that explains more:

Well I would have to agree with superdork, the xbox 360 says that it comes with 20 gbs, but really once you turn it on and everything it only gives you around 13.5 gbs the most. Even if you delete everything, you still wouldn't be able to get 20 gbs. Why you may ask? It's becuase for the xbox 360 system use, kind of like computer now a days. I don't know about you, but most computer have a system save which takes about 6 gbs off of your orginal gbs. That 6 gbs is for the computer use like say you want to totally want to restore the computer back to factory settings. With the xbox 360, it's the same and to add to it. The dashboard also takes a few gbs becuase it is a software were talking about.

Super Dork is right. The missing 7 Gb is reserved for system use. It's used to store the system updates and other things. To save space on your hard drive you can get a mem card and put all your saved games on it instead of the hard drive.

Sometimes when you overwrite your progress on video games it goes to a new slot , make sure you are using the same slot every time you save.

Those 7gigs are for system use only. Its supposed to be like that, cuz your xbox uses it to store update information, and things like that so it should be untouched.
