Has anyone ever used a Mouse Mover Ultrasonic Rodent Deterrent from Sharper Image? It emits a high pitched noise that plugs into the wall that is supposedly pet and human friendly but repels rodents. I already have a cat (he's getting so used to seeing them that he basically ignores them), I have set up glue traps but haven't caught any and sealed up my house but I still found one in my BED this morning. I have done what ever possible to remove the food sources as well!
So any ideas would be great and any feedback about the noise deterrent.
Thanks

I used Mouse Mover and it did not work. The glue traps are useless, tried those too. When they do get stuck to them they usually just carry them away with them. I no longer have mice in my house because I used D-Con. I didn't want to use it cause I think poisoning an animal is a horrible death but no more horrible than being stuck to a glue trap alive while you slowly starve to death.

I used to work in pest control. Seriously, don't hire a professional. Waste of money!!!!!!! Do not use those Ultrasonic things especially since you have a cat..., your poor cat. Glue traps can be effective if you leave them out for about two weeks but by then they became a waste of time, because the glue dries up and dirt and debris fall on them and the stickiness wears down.
Your best option is to use the good old fashion traps. They have plastic traps if you are frightened of the wooden traps. Just make sure you keep them hidden from your pets.
The pills also work and don't worry they will not die in your home. Mice come in your house because they are scavenging around for food, and they know where it is. Once they eat, they return back to there dwelling. So if they eat the pills they will die away from your house.
Then again i do not know the condition of your house and its surroundings, so the absolute best bet would be the plastic traps. They can be found at Lowes, Home Depot or any hardware store. Walmart and Target carry them as well.
Hope this helps you with the mouse.

There are so many factors to consider in this question. The Ultrasonics will work initially if you use the right brand (I recommend Victor) but only are effective for about two weeks (after that the rodents "get used" to the sound). Traps are often circumvented by crafty mice. You obviously have something that attracts the mice to your house. You need to figure out what it is and remove it if possible. Also find out how they are gaining entry and seal it up. Although inhumane I would recommend D-con unless you have small children around. It is one of the few things that they can't get used to or figure out how to get around.

I'm sorry, I haven't tried the noise deterrent. I've had great success with this trap in my house:

I've caught over ten mice with it so far and it can be used over and over indefinitely. Or, you can try making the free homemade humane trap described here:

http://www.helpinganimals.com/wildlife_livingWithMice.asp

If you do live trap mice, please be sure to check the traps several times a day and release the mice promptly, approximately a mile away from your home. It is much more cruel to allow a mouse in a live trap to slowly starve to death than to kill it quickly with a snap trap. When you release the mice, do it in an area with some sheltering bushes or plants.

The absolute cruelest traps are glue traps. Mice have been known to gnaw off their own limbs and tear off their skin in an effort to escape, as they starve or dehydrate to death or suffocate in the glue. It can take three to five days for them to die. I hope you'll consider pitching the glue traps. If you do find a live mouse in one, you can pour vegetable oil around the mouse to loosen the glue, and then gently push the mouse off the trap with a pencil.

Poison isn't any better, as the mice die slowly and painfully from internal bleeding. It can take up to a week for them to die, and then they smell as they rot behind your walls.

It doesn't take much extra effort to be kind. You will feel better and so will the mice! Good luck!

Okay, the thing wrong that some professionals do, is give poison that makes the rodents swell up and explode! really!

You need to seal up every crack inside and outside of your house. Some people put steel wool in the holes, or even broken glass, then cover it up with plaster.

Some say that bug spray (around all your cracks, baseboards, windows, and doors) will somewhat dull the mice, and they will be caught more easily in traps.

Everyone I know who has tried electronic bug/animal deterrents, said they didn't work.

I've heard good things about the electronic pest remover. I personally can't use it because I have a pet rat. DON'T USE THE GLUE TRAPS!!! If you catch one, what are you gong to do with it? We used them once and we caught one. We decided to kill it because it would be nicer than letting the mouse starve to death. After that, we got rid of all the glue traps. I've heard a lot of good things at work about the electronic deterant. I heard it repels roaches also. At home, I use a live catch trap. When I catch a mouse (they like oreos) I let my cats play with the trap for a little bit to scare the mouse, then I let him go in the field down the street. Good luck!

You have an entrance somewhere. Hire a pest control company. They will find and cover the places the mouse are coming in. Worth the $, Mice carry that virus of the desert.

I had the same problem, so take a couple traps and put them places you hear or see them. But on the trap put peanut butter on wear they would step so there little feat can get caught. And put a peices of cheese at the end. Hope I helped. Good Luck!

Mice and rats can't belch, and so they die of internal explosions when they drink cola. What some farmers do is to leave cups containing cola around the area of infestation. Sooner or later, the rodents will chance upon them.
