I have been under a great amount of stress these past 3 weeks and I'm always late for my period. But some people tell me I haven't started because I'm under alot of stress. Is that true?

Stress can certainly lead to a late period. As can a lot of other things.

My only advice is if you've had unprotected sex since your last period, take a pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy as a cause.

"If you have a late period and a negative pregnancy test, then consider whether or not you’ve recently been sick, gained or lost a significant amount of weight, have been under excessive stress or have taken any new medications. All of these things can affect your menstrual cycle and cause you to have irregular periods. Additionally, certain types of birth control, including the birth control pill, Depo-Provera and Norplant, can cause you to have menstrual cycles disturbances."

Can be VERY TRUE, any stress to the body can change your menstrual cycle, even something as simple as a test in school or a new exercise plan temporarily stresses your body and can delay your period. IF you are still very concerned visit your doctor, they will most likely help you reduce the stress in your life!

Psst. Relax ;)

Yes. Stress can delay ovulation. Your period comes about 14 days after you ovulate. If you didn't ovulate this month you may still have a period, but it will be late because you don't have the hormones to cause a natural period.

Yes. That and sperm....(joking)
Any stressor causes a reaction....Your bodies attempt to maintain homeostasis. In your case the reaction your body is attempting is hormonal. If you are under that much stress and it is effecting your physically, its time to do something. See a doctor or take steps to eliminate the stressor. This is a outward sign things are not right.

It's very likely, though in my experience I'm more often early than late as result of stress. Everyone's different though.

Yes can be a hinderance.
