You don't.

Find who you are and project that image in the best light possible. If you always do what you think is right and can sell it to your constituency, they will have a lot more respect for your decisions even when your decisions are different than they wnat.

OK, and then reality sets in. Do what ALL politicians do; LIE. Lie some more and then Lie again.

An effective politician studies the voters he wishes to represent and seeks out the issues and questions common to most of them. An effective statesman is one who can both shape and follow the will of the people.

The one who does these things the best is the winner.

You cannot please all of the people all of the time. Surely somebody said that in the past. Somewhat famous too.
