Any piercing has the risk of infection, but that can be prevented or easily treated. The only other risk is that you can't really ever change your mind or else you have a very apparent hole/scare there that is unattractive without the jewelry.

Your jeans may pull on the belly button and my mom took hers out because she was tired of it pulling.

you can get a serious infection if you don't take care of it, and it can get caught to your belt and rip out (self experience)
