This storyline is basically in the aftermath of a nuclear war that has resulted in nothing more but a single school standing. All surviving kids are taken there by Kid Catchers (basically dog catchers for kids) and are forced to learn in order to desensitize and brainwash them (note: not like kids next door. It's actually not retarded.) But then there's the new kid who has been driven criminally insane and now targets kids in the school to calm a demonic spirit that lives inside of him that does nothing more than thirst for blood.
Note: There is no profanity (okay, a lot, but no BIG curse words just small ones that don't involve the letters f,s and a-h), but lots of violence toned down to suit ages 11-13.
The criminally insane kid is named Malcolm, who has survived the death of his parents and is now nothing more but a shellshocked min-Gaara.

As for other characters, there are the popular kids, the perfect stereotypes of, well, popular kids.
There are the lower middle class kids (their population take up about a quarter and a half of the school's population). Insane teachers and staff, and plus, they have to live in dorms with each other.

Another twist to the story is a demonic being named Massacre. He is the thing that drives Malcolm to kill, seek and destroy.

The post-nuclear war/apocalypse setting thing is a little overdone, but besides that, it's okay.
