I don't think women deserved to get off the Titanic first than men. Children should have been sent first ( both boys and girls ), then young men and women, then older men and women, and so forth.

And women say they were oppressed..... 'priviledged' would be a better term......

It's called chivalry. It's because the caregivers of the children are primarily women. Not trying to be sexist, it's just the way things normally are.

If you think women are privileged, look at the rape stats. As men, we need to do a better job protecting our women.

was it not maritime law that said women and children first men go last. Rules are rules. Judging by the captain of the cruise ship that sunk a few years ago, he was off first, and decided to organize the rescue from shore. He said "I told them to get off (the ship) and they stayed". Yep he was fired and banned from ever piloting a ship for the rest of his miserable life. Now there should be enough life boats for everyone that was the law created after the Titanic. The men (except the ones who were more into self preservation) agreed to go last and that was the way of it. You on the other hand would try to jump into the lifeboat, miss and freeze to death in the fridged waters of the North Atlantic.
It would have served you right.

The Titanic sank at the demise of male chivalry & a rise of the
human male ignorance.
In reflection it all has to do with complaciency, greed,& apathy.
Many people were left behind ,men,women...& children,if you care to do the research.

Children on their own? You mean you would have loaded first a boat with all the babies in arms and no-one to take care of them?

Whoa, that's a great idea.

The theory is that as women take care of everything and don't get paid (in those days even more) at least they get to get off sinking boats first. You must be a real woman-lover.

Also, men are supposed to be stronger and more able to take care of themselves.

It's just the gentle-manly thing to do. Your supposed to be big strong men to protect us no matter what. Some women still like being treated like a lady.

It was called "chivalry", and it was killed by Women's Liberation and whipped men. Sadly, it isn't practiced anywhere but in the Southern US any more.

Side note to "Michelle" - LOL! Too funny. But there are no sharks in the north Atlantic, just icebergs.

Wow, God, you are in charge of deciding, why didn't you just make what you wanted to happen happen?

Hey the rich got off first, doesn't that make you a little bit happy?
